New cardiac society and turf battles
There is now a new society, the Society for Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT), formed last week at the ACC, after the merging of two similar societies, which themselves had been formed only in the last 3 months or so. Cardiologists outnumber all other specialists as members.
The president of the ACC during the recent ACC conference, was virulent about fighting any moves by the ACR (American college of Radiology)to limit the use of these modalities by non-radiologists. This is one turf battle, that is likely not going to be won by radiologists.
