The death of cardiac CT for radiologists

Scanman at Diagnostic Imaging in his column this week talks about the probable demise of cardiac CT as a tool in the hands of radiologists. Apparently Philips has come out with a 16-slice system only for cardiologists priced below 700,000USD, i.e. around 3 odd crores.

He is right about the fact that as the technology improves, cardiologists will go for this technology in a big way. But in our Indian kind of practice that is completely dictated by the market-place, once the 64 and 40 slice systems hit the market, virtually every 16-slice system will die. To that extent, unless the cardiologists self -refer, it is unlikely that this will be a problem for us.

Election new 2004 - 08

Two more radiologists have sent out letters appealing to be elected. Both are from Meerut. Dr. Vinit Nanda is standing for the post of Treasurer for the ICRI and Dr. Prashant K Gupta is standing for the post of Chairman, ICRI for the year 2005-2006.

The ballot papers for the IRIA conference should be reaching by 7-8 October and will be due in November.

It is a good idea to vote, so that we get the candidates we want.
